Still Alive, oh yeah!
my little universe December 18th, 2008Well I made it through surgery on Tuesday and i am doing quite well. I am already up and walking around with minimal pain, and I get all the Italian ice I can eat! the procedure was successful, Dr Packman cleaned out a bunch of tissue and everything went back together smoothly.
I get to go home tomorrow and can’t wait, but I will miss this hospital bed. As I haven’t ever spent time in a hospital before I was unaware of auto inflation bed. For those of you that don’t know, these beds automatically adjust the pressure points on your back and back side to keep from having to shift and adjust yourself in bed.
Any way, when I get home I will write a post about my experiences with this. research is hard to come by, and I hope I can help a few people find some answers. I may have helped one local friend already!

the bigger incision, cutting through the abdominal muscle to get to the Iliac artery…and you thought sit-ups sucked before.

and the ankle where a vein was taken to make the patch for the Iliac artery.
Ok more to come….

Chad-
Good luck in recovery! On the note of helping others, Im a guy thats been racing for 15+ yrs and the last few I’ve had major issue with loss of power and feeling in my right leg – but only at high intensity. If your bored in bed, pls email me as Id like to get more details !!
It seems hard to diagnose and hard for me to justify surgery – but I’d like to hear your story.
speedy recovery…

Dietrich. I was going to have Dr. Cherry do my surgery at Mayo but due to some crazy circumstance I had a doctor that he trained.

Adobe Illustrator is so much fun when it’s a frickin midwest blizzard outside here in Seattle!! Lynda.com is the trick shop. can’t beat it on per month charge…which is all you’ll need as you’ll be back on the bike.
