for the LOVE

I guess i really haven’t acknowledged much of the deeper thought that goes along with what we do (ride bikes) but a few fellow posts have brought it to my attention. Austin just published a comment from a guy who i can only assume has had some deep troubling experiences… and although i haven’t talked to him, Will seems like he has a lot on his mind. on the surface it seem so easy… but this year compared to most it seem like “everyone” is dealing with more than they usually do.  maybe its the state of our sport, maybe its some divine interference.  but maybe this year will have some trials and tribulations that will help us all out and make everything better….. more sweet if you will.

mostly i say this because i’m reading about everyone off at camp here or there and i know I’m not going any where until march 10th…  yes the 10th…… of march.  at that time i will have read all about early euro racing and ToC.  so here to me waiting around for my season to start and desperately looking for deeper meaning in other peoples posts.

talk to you later

Damn!…… i mean DAMN!!

For those of you that have never ridden the track or more to the point the pursuit consider yourself lucky. I’d imagine that the kilo might be worse but frankly i’ve never really had the ability to make it hurt enough. one of the most amazing things i’ve seen on a bike is when sarah hammer won the LA world cup a year or two ago. after she finished and slowed down people had to unclip her feet, and carry her down the stairs into the infield. She had turned herself SO inside out that in 3.5 minutes she couldn’t walk. Thats the kind of hurt I’m talking about

I don’t know Taylor Phinney. i don’t know what its like to ride a 4:25 pursuit. but i believe it to be in that “can’t walk down the stairs ” kind of hurt zone. but at 17 years old, riding his 7th or 8th pursuit….maybe, he took down the best pursuiters in the world. hes currently ranked 2nd in the world… in the big boys, not juniors. mind you he stepped on the track in October, October-4 months ago-October. Damn. oh and for a few minutes i guess he held the track record… not to bad for a kid who hasn’t gone to prom yet.

60 degrees + midwest + january = WHAT???

my little universe 1 Comment »

i hear that every year during January there is a big “thaw”  but this is three days in a row with 50+ degree temps… today we even had a thunderstorm warning with some tornadoes… lightning in January is a seldom seen event.  it’s amazing how “warm” rain is so much more welcome then blustery fridge conditions.  nothing a pair of fenders can’t fix.

i’d have some drawing for you….if i could figure out the damn new computer…. maybe in a bit.

later

have fun
