These are the lame attempts at excuses as to why it has taken me a while to tell all you very bored people what i have been doing with my busy life.  (i assume your bored because you’re reading my site which is as stimulating as…… well its not at all really). if you don’t know ….. I’ve been RACING!!!!

i started the Alpenrose 6-daywhich i never intended to finish due to a conflict with the big money Boise Twilight crit.  I teamed up with Josh weir and we had a super special time winning a ridiculous amount of gift certificates.  unfortunately neither josh or I had time to finish the event that turn out to be some sort of national championship… that doesn’t really count for anything.  the boys at bigmanshoes (up there on the link) did a super job of commentating on the six day, i especially like when me compared the teams to Lord of the Rings…..brilliant.  Also K-manhas a sweet video of his first track race and the A’s Madison at the 6 day.
On Saturday morning i drove 6 hours to Boise and raced that night. the Good news was that i was excited about how easy i felt despite the lack of snap in my legs brought on by the drive. in the end My shoe and Dave McCooks rear wheel had a bit of an argument (my foot Kicked its ass) Dave blew out some spokes and i lost a few precious spots ending up 9th.  a late night and early morning later i’m on a flight to Superweek.

first race was Holy Hill road race.  100 miles, hot, boring 14th

next few races- 100km crits- legs getting better each day but kept missing the move.  in kenosha i finally made the move. felt plenty strong in the break (only out pulled by Pete Dawson…he has a gold medal….a real one….with olive branches and 5 rings) so i not ashamed to admit that.  I had great position into the last 2 corners sitting 4th wheel, then the swarm and a bit of argy bargy, came out of the last corner 3rd and it ended that way. cha_1859_07.jpgcha_1948_07.jpgcha_1979_07.jpgcha_2004_07.jpg

the other big highlight was in white fish bay (last day)  coming out of 3rd corner around 20 minutes in i heard an alarming cracking sound, and well as a few inches of movement in my handlebars. i sat up and went to the pit, where the asked me “what’s wrong”  then i snapped off the left side of my handlebars for proof.  an odd occurrence since i had never crashed on the bars, and they were heavy aluminium, hmmmm. any way i finished on a Sram pit bike.  nice bike set up WAY wrong.  The seat was pointed 30 degrees down (what the hell)  the bars were about 17 inches too high, and rotated ”hoods down” to a rediculous degree.  if it was a TT bike i would looked like this…

this is only here to illustrate obscene bar height and seat angle.  but you get the idea.  after being thrown back in, i almost ate shit as the high center steering took over.  but managed to get it under control.  the point is (and im making more excuses here) i wasn’t about to mix it up in the sprint on this crazy machine,  i took a flyer in the last 15 laps and for a minute thought i may have had it…it lasted until 7 togo at which point i took my ball and went home.  Dawson took some pointers i had given in those 7 laps and rode off the front in the last few laps to win.  the big news dispite my bike and many many riders best attempts i didn’t leave any skin in Wisconsin- if you can leave superweek without blood shed, well mission accomplished.

Well up next (in two days)  off to charlotte for a ba-zillion dollar crit and the another Ca-gillion dollar crit in elk grove, and the a few national championships and maybe the “show me” tour.  we’ll see.

ok thats its
