so i was out riding and i saw this scooter…only it wasn’t…i think

i was one of the funniest things i ever seen, it drives all crazy

all i could imagine was the insane motor pacing behind this beast.  vrooooom

I’m not sure of the current standings of our competition but i believe the last true “call out” was march 14th, 2007…..if you don’t remember might i refresh your memory with this.

after months of trying my goal of the ever elusive 1501 is dashed…..i have settled for 1502

THE GAUNTLET HAS BEEN THROWN DOWN…..1503 or 1504…..  whats really lame is that i have been thinking about it for 4 months….at least trying to get within a few watts.  the object is not to beat the other guy, but beat him by as little as possible to still give him hope to try again.  i think our record is 3 or 4 days in a row within 10 watts of each other.  its on you huff

The last day of the AVC was ok- not great.  Jeff Hopkins and i won the madison easily, which is to say we started to flick each other all over the track.  he was tired and trying to conserve energy for the Keirin, so he wanted to “win as easily as possible” which meant for me not to try to take a lap.  so jeff had a big battle for the first sprint which he won but then he told me the next sprint was mine.  well, that didn’t work out so well- he got thrown in with two to go and had to do the next sprint…..and the next.   he went pretty all out for the first three sprint and was gassed.  so this is when he turned the tables, he started missing exchanges.  first i was in for three laps, then four.  it wasn’t as bad for me cause i just had to take half lap pulls- but from the outside it was pretty funny.  “are those two guys TRYING to screw each other?”

any way-we won which is nice cause i like getting roughly $600 an hour for bike riding. 

thats me looking stupid- making myself not seem so short….i think. 

after that came the Points race.  i can’t blame anyone but myself here, I overestimated my strength.  I thought i could get away with racing a gear 2 inches bigger than everybody else.  the thinking was that what i’d lose in acceleration i could make up with taking laps. any way that didn’t work.  i watched 6guys counter some of my moves and take off.  damn.  once they lapped i had some opportunities and took off with 20 laps to go thinking i could get a lap.  i was not to be.  i got points here and there but never really sprinted for any- a 3rd here, 2nd there.  in the end i only lost by 11 points, and had i sprinted the last four sprints i could have had a shot at winning.  i’m an idiot.   

after that (aka this week)  the boys are down in bend racing cascade.  i think Nydam is in the climbers jersey, after being in the early break.   also that tour thing is on TV 17 times a days, which is nice. 

also some A-hole construction guys said they were turning off the water today between noon-3pm for road maintenance.  well it was off when i woke up at 8:30- and yet hours later i still have to poop.   

Yesterday was my first day of racing at the Alpenrose Velodrome challenge.  the first event up was the Men’s 10 mile, which if i’m not mistaken Mike Creed is the national record holder.  a nice little bonus to the race was the $3, $2 two place prime on each lap.  as it worked out with about 8 laps to go there was an great opportunity so i jumped off the front and soloed it in.  a quick lunch break and back to the track for a miss-and-out.  i got a little lazy when there were 5 of us left and got beat out by a bike throw. Jeff Hopkins went on to win that race, i think that puts him 3 point a head in the omnium standings.  we’ll see how this one turns out……

as much as we all bitch about our government and politics in general, how about today we celebrate the fact that we can talk about it and that talk is encouraged. we can all list “a few things wrong with this country” but at the end of the day we’re not leaving. so celebrate America in the most American way possible…. by blowing a small part of it up!
